Carnahan Opens 96th Missouri General Assembly January 06th 2011
From the SOS Office: Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan yesterday addressed the Missouri House of Representatives on the opening day of the 96th Regular Session. By law, the Secretary of State presides over the opening of each session until a duly elected Speaker is chosen.
“Millions of Missourians are counting on you not only to maintain but to continue building on the strong foundation that has made our state so great,” Carnahan told the 163 Representatives, 85 of whom are serving in the House for the first time. “Never forget that throughout our long history, Missouri’s leaders have struggled with even tougher times — times of war, depression and disaster — and yet, during these times, they stayed committed to the common purpose of ensuring a brighter future for Missouri families.”
