Congressman Blunt Supports $12.5 Billion Big Oil Bailout

Yesterday, the Kansas City Star reported that Robin Carnahan and Congressman Blunt “disagree over paying for the [BP offshore oil spill] cleanup.” Since Carnahan has repeatedly stated that she believes BP should clean up their own mess, the news was an unpleasant reminder that Blunt wants to stick Missouri taxpayers with the estimated $268 million clean-up bill. One Week Later…

Congressman “Bailout” Blunt still refuses to accept Robin Carnahan’s challenge to promise missouri no more bailouts. More than three weeks after the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast began, and one week after challenged by Robin Carnahan to come out against a Big Oil bailout, Congressman Blunt continues to hide at home in Washington, DC and has been mysteriously silent on who should clean up the mess.

Congressman “Bailout” Blunt Rakes in Money from Wall St Lobbyists As He Defends Future Bailouts

Congressman Blunt continues to rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Wall Street Lobbyists as he opposes Wall Street reform and continues to support a pro-bailout economic policy.  A new report from the Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan government watchdog, singles out Sam Geduldig, a former Blunt staffer turned financial industry lobbyist, as being heavily involved in hosting fundraising events to benefit lawmakers, including Congressman Blunt, as they work to kill financial reforms that will help protect consumers. Geduldig spent four years working for Blunt on financial services issues and according to the Sunlight Foundation, Blunt and Geduldig worked to build “coalitions” of corporate special interest groups to help further their agenda.
